Students of Hiktaos school – a community school in Ajiran area of Agungi, Lekki received donations of textbooks and school supplies for the 2018-2019 Academic session. ArchVision Workgroup Ltd in partnership with a connect group of the Elevation Church, Lekki, Lagos made these donations to the students at the beginning of their academic session. This initiative is in line with our CSR policy focused on educating less privileged children and our commitment to developing the next generation of leaders in Nigeria.

The school is one of several schools in Lagos State found within communities were children are not able to enjoy access to free education. The parents of these children are unable to bear the transport cost to the closest public schools throughout the session. As a result, these parents send their children to lower rated schools in the vicinity.

For the 2018-2019 Academic session, a number of students could not pay the school fees (about N15,000 per term), most others could not afford the basic textbooks they needed for the session. The books we donated to them included, Mathematics, English Grammar, Coloring Books, Handwriting Books, Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Aptitude, Vocational Education and Cultural & Creative Arts Books.

These donations have boosted the morale of the children and will help them experience more meaningful learning at this critical stage of their development. During the presentation of the school supplies, Odunayo Lawani charged them to believe in themselves, focus on their advantages and cream their dreams. He instructed them to use the best of every opportunity to learn and that they should never see themselves as disadvantaged.

Appreciation

The proprietress of the school, Mrs Taiwo Owodunni thanked Archvision Workgroup and the Elevation Church for the charitable donations and expressed hope that we will continue to keep them in mind. She described the donations as an investment that will yield great dividends and committed to ensuring the teachers and the students make the best use of the materials and school supplies.

The students also were overjoyed and encouraged, rendering prayers in an assembly for the donors. After the event, individual parents sent many thank you messages through the school proprietress for the timely assistance.

Hiktoas school is now one of our adopted schools under our CSR programs.
